Zombie Tarpon

A tarpon had severe wounds at the aquarium, most likely caused by the Sand Tiger Sharks that share the tank. Several of the Tarpon had wounds, but this one was the worst.

Now, before people start blaming the staff or anything, I just have to say, sharks will be sharks. If they are hungry, they will eat (or try to eat) the prey that is about them. The staff do feed them, in fact we witnessed 3 separate feedings in that one visit. My theory is because Sand Tigers are mainly night feeders, its likely most of the injuries happened at night when no one is present. I do not know the fate of the tarpon, as this photo was taken months ago. My assumption is it did succumb. But I doubt the aquarium wasted a meal that the sharks clearly wanted

Let me know if you feel a mature filter is needed. I will put one on if that is the case.
