Remember The Fallen

Description

"With a sigh, you turn away
With a deepening heart, no more words to say
You will find that the world has changed forever

"The trees are now turning from green to gold
And the sun is now fading
I wish I could hold you closer"

"Houses of Healing" Lyrics by Fran Walsh, performed by Liv Tyler.

Let me break down the image a little. The wolf is female and symbolizes the women of war who lost their husbands, fathers, brothers and sons.
The poppies are the symbols of the holiday "Remembrance (or Veteran's) Day."
For the most part I used mutual tones to create a sad/somber mood (I also added tears. its my first time doing that so they may look a little out of place).

The song is from the "Lord of the Rings: Return of the king."
The first line relates to when the men left for the war after being enlisted or signing up. The second line talks about the shock and sadness and the third line should be fairly clear.

In the second verse, the seasons change which symbolizes a long time has passed. The sun is fading which means that a woman's "partner" has passed, and she wishes she could hold or be with him again.

This took over a month to complete. I started it on December 6th 2010.
I just finished it 15 minutes ago. I may still add shading to the background if I feel it is necessary.
Opinions are welcome on that, or other areas of the drawing :D

The holiday I have chosen is Remembrance or Veterans Day. It is a special holiday to me, since my grandfather was a veteran of WW2.

Love the dash of colour added by the poppies, the colour scheme looks great.
