My first day in Auckland was a long but joyous one
We landed at 5:30am, picked up our bags and were driven off to our hotel at the base of the iconic tower. As tired as we were from the 19 hour flight (technically 21 hours with the layover in Vancouver) we decided to stay up and have a full, normal day to help us adjust. We had breakfast and then walked down to the waterfront where we had tea and coffee. We spontaneously decided to hop on the nearby ferry and take a tour of the peninsula across from the city. It was a great choice! We learned some history, saw iconic views and we had milkshakes during the heat of the day.
I couldn't have asked for a better adventure as an introduction to New Zealand.
